FAQs & Troubleshooting
Have questions about how Paperback Passport works? This guide covers the most common questions and solutions to help you navigate the swapping process smoothly.
Getting Started
-
If you've been invited to the pilot, create your account using the link in your welcome email. Within 24 hours, you'll receive a separate email invitation to join the Pilot Group. Accept that invitation to start swapping.
-
First, check your spam or promotions folder. If it's been more than 24 hours and you still don't see it, email support@paperbackpassport.com and we'll resend it.
-
During the pilot phase, participation is by invitation only. Once we open to the wider community, you'll be able to invite friends to join Paperback Passport.
Adding Books & Making Selections
-
We recommend adding at least 3-5 books to start. The more books you add, the more options other readers have to match with you, which increases your chances of getting matched with books you want.
-
Yes, you can typically add books throughout the selection period. However, the sooner you add them, the more time others have to browse and select them.
-
You can update your selections anytime before the matching calculation happens. Once matching begins, selections are locked in.
-
We do our best to match everyone with books they've selected, but it's not always possible to give everyone their first choice. The matching system considers everyone's selections and tries to create fair, mutually beneficial swaps.
-
During the pilot, we're focusing on physical paperback and hardcover books in good readable condition. We don't currently support magazines, textbooks, or damaged books that aren't fully readable.
Matching & Swapping
-
Our system analyses everyone's book listings and selections to create matches. The goal is to ensure everyone who participates gets matched based on mutual interest and availability.
-
Matching typically takes 1-2 days after the selection period closes. You'll receive an email notification when your match is ready.
-
It's possible, especially during the pilot when the group is small. Each swapping chain creates new matches based on current selections.
Shipping & Receiving
-
Your Swap Box should arrive within 5-7 days after matching is complete. If it hasn't arrived after a week, contact support@paperbackpassport.com.
-
No! The pre-paid shipping label included with your Swap Box covers all shipping costs. Just attach it to the box and drop it off at any postal location.
-
The Swap Box is designed to accommodate most standard books. If your book is unusually large and doesn't fit, contact support@paperbackpassport.com and we'll help you find a solution.
-
Most books arrive within 5-7 business days, depending on your location and postal service efficiency. You'll receive tracking information so you can monitor your book's journey.
-
First, check your tracking information to see where the package is. If it's been more than 10 business days or tracking shows a problem, email support@paperbackpassport.com with your swap.
-
Log into your dashboard and mark it as shipped as soon as you remember. This helps your match know their book is on the way.
